There’s a blurry line between carvings, sculpture and paintings for me. I mix and match the categories a little.
I might re-configure a painting as a sculpture and vice versa. It’s rare that a work is actually ‘finished’ unless it’s a commissioned piece and I have to hand it over. Otherwise it will sit in the studio for a while, I’ll work on other projects then return to it. So the evolution of the work is the thing I’m most interested in, ‘endless becoming’ with the flip-side to this being the risk of eventual destruction.
