Public Commissions

I had a brief spell making work for outdoor public settings, in wood and stone.

Lizard of Locke Park

This was a sculpture commission for a community park in South Yorkshire in 2008/9. It was the largest carving I have worked on, approximately 20 tonne of solid York stone. It was carved all by hand outside the Yorkshire Artspace studios in Sheffield. I wore out quite a few chisels and lost over a stone in weight!

Bird Feeder

Made for Worsborough Mill, a working water mill and country park. This was carved from the trunk of a locally felled ash tree. I chose the magpie bird for the theme of a well dressed French waiter

Not Now Bernard!

A school sculpture made as part of a series of creative workshops. Carved from solid Yorkshire sandstone it represents a children’s fictional character in a book that the class were studying
